Ephemeral Beauty

The Art of Transition
Exploration of the multidimensional nature of that which
is the end of life as we know it

A stirring artistic portrait (+ poetry) exhibition that honors the transformative power of aging and mortality in the lives of woman’s inevitable transformation

My a friend that I didn’t know very long but whose passing affected me deeply, reminding me of the mystery and secrets of living and the great Beyond initiated this new project I am calling “Ephemeral Beauty: The Art of Dying”.

This woman was all about life, a yogini who taught new mothers how to care for their pregnant bodies and to give life and care for themselves and babies postpartum. A life doula of sorts and a mama-to-many including my bonus (step) daugther so was one of her mamas. She also had a beautiful daugther. The point is, her death was poignant as she glowed with babies and almost lived for them. Now she has slipped to the otherside of the rainbow.

Tributes, odes and prayers may help us in the living send those on the otherside off, but the Greatest Surrender is the transistion of dying and I would like us still embodied to endeavor to allow it’s beauty and holiness of this great river of life we are on to be a blessing in the allowing. Not that I will be all grace and surrender per se, but I shall try.

This is for the mothers who have to say their final goodbyes to their children, and for the children the other way around.

For the mothers estranged by their children and the mothers who only want to be there for their children.

For the women who weren’t able to be mothers and all the many ways we have been touched as a woman.

I hope this touches you deeply in some way.
